What is twitter anyway?
You arrive home from work and check your Rolex Submariner replica, it’s one minute past three. There’s nothing on TV and your favorite soapy doesn’t start for ages. You were hoping to catch a bit of Grey’s Anatomy so you’re out of luck and decide to turn on your PC and check Twitter instead.
So, what is Twitter anyway?
Twitter is an internet site similar to a mini-blogging or instant message site but supersized, no, that’s not correct. What’s the opposite of Supersized? Anyway, it was developed along the lines that it would be a quick way to let others know,
“What are you doing”?
People join and fill their details onto an online profile. People who join are known as Twitters and encouraged to use their own names on their profiles but often choose other names or pseudonyms. The chosen names might describe what they are or what they do. Both professionals and social internet surfers can join.
The next step is to start following someone or something of interest or send a message known as a tweet of 140 characters or less. (This is the limit per tweet). After joining it sometimes takes a while to understand what it actually going on in twitter-land but before long you become addicted like everyone else.
Companies use Twitter to get their latest product releases out to the general public and to build lists of contacts for marketing purposes.
Individuals use Twitter to send short messages throughout the day to their friends all around the world or just down the street.
Often Twitter is used in organizations from co-workers sitting a desk away but unable to pick up the phone or walk over to the desk for whatever reason.
In fact there are people tweeting right now as they look at their Rolex Submariner replica watches and realize how much time they’ve been spending on the internet. There tweet might look something like this, “missed 2-nites episode Grey’s Anatomy been sitting on this puter way 2 long!”
